Asked how much longer the war would run, he said not too long, and added of Iran's capacity to continue that he did not think it would be very much longer, that he did not know how much more they could take. His confidence followed, rather than preceded, a fresh round of fighting. Combat resumed on Sunday after a month without military action, with the United States striking Iranian rocket launchers on Larak Island and Iran firing missiles toward Jordan and the UAE. The US launched major strikes around the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, Iran said one of them killed four people at a wedding and called it a war crime, and Tehran retaliated with strikes at US bases across several Middle East countries. Trump's other idea for the strait was less about ending the war than about branding it. Now that we have it under USA control, he asked, should we change the name Hormuz Strait to Trump Strait, and the White House posted a map with the waterway relabelled, captioned it's got a nice ring to it. Defense Minister Israel Katz struck a more sober note, saying Israel was prepared to respond with great force if attacked during the Jewish holidays beginning the following week.
