# The Army Ordered Eight Families Out of Qusra, Then Said Nobody Would Be Moved

The army went back into Qusra on Thursday for a three day operation to remove the settler outposts that have stood there since Sunday. It began by telling six families to leave their homes, along with the two families settlers had blockaded, then reversed itself and said residents would not be displaced. By then six families had gone. Residents said so, and the reversal did not bring them back.

The outpost blocking the entrance to the Yusuf Hassan house was dismantled. The family is still not in it. They are sheltering in an empty house inside the same compound, and the army has said troops will not occupy their home, which is a statement about the army rather than about the settlers who remain in the area. The second blockaded family was allowed to return.

The sequence is the story. An operation announced as an eviction of outposts opened by ordering Palestinians out of their houses, and the correction arrived after the order had been carried out. Whatever the intention, the first measurable effect of a three day operation against settler outposts was six Palestinian families leaving home.

Elsewhere on Thursday the military struck Khan Younis and said it killed a Hamas company commander who was planning attacks on Israeli forces. It was the second strike after a week without air raids while negotiations continued on the American backed plan linking Hamas disarmament to an Israeli withdrawal.
