The Israeli military reported an overnight exchange of fire with Hezbollah operatives on the Ali Taher ridge near Nabatiyeh in southern Lebanon. An officer was moderately wounded, taken to hospital, and his family notified. The military said it then killed the operatives in a strike.
The location is the point. Ali Taher sits above a substantial Hezbollah tunnel network, and the framework agreement signed in late June under American sponsorship bars Israeli forces from taking the underground passages. That leaves a position Israel can shoot at and over but not occupy, which is a durable recipe for exchanges like this one.
Neither Lebanese authorities nor Hezbollah commented. The group has not claimed an attack since 20 June, a silence that has held through several incidents and complicates any reading of whether these are organisational decisions or local ones.
