> A Board of Peace official walked back a claim that a fourteen day process was already running, while the IDF struck five weapons depots and Israel's own position stayed conspicuously unstated.

An official of the Board of Peace said Hamas would begin handing over weapons within days, and in the same breath corrected an assertion made on Thursday that a fourteen day disarmament process had already begun. The agreement has not entered into force. The two week window is meant to let the parties settle an implementation timetable running somewhere between 200 and 350 days.

The correction is not a detail. A clock that has started is a commitment being measured; a clock that has not is a negotiation still open. Every subsequent claim about compliance depends on which of the two is true, and the parties have an interest in different answers.

On the ground the Israeli military said it destroyed five Hamas weapons depots. Warehouses holding medicine next to Shuhada al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah were hit, and the Hamas-run health ministry reported two destroyed and two damaged, affecting dialysis and wound care supplies. Since the ceasefire took hold in October 2025, more than 1,100 people have been killed in Gaza by that ministry's count, and five Israeli soldiers have died.

Israel's position is the gap in the record. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not commented publicly, while two statements attributed to an unnamed senior Israeli official opposed the plan, and the military signalled it would not withdraw. US President Donald Trump has said Israel is content with the arrangement. When a government's only voice on a matter of this size is anonymous, the silence is itself the position.
